Saturday

Begins. Meditation on the power behind the wave action and the surge of my beating Heart sending blood to nourish and each so salty. Feeling the immensity and majesty of God.
Breakfast is a green smoothie, handfuls of Asian micro greens, a banana and pineapple and ginger. Dan isn't quite accustomed to the green taste, but drinks up, knowing it is nutrient dense Goodness! More brown rice, the cinnamon and sugar with soy milk. This is a day of eating it all up.
My last yoga class is at 11:00. Sa teaches and I see her shine, the Love flowing out! So beautiful to see her blossom over the years:)
Home at 1, I cook up some lentils with carrot celery and onion and we grill a Mahi Mahi filet. It is our first lunch at home and we eat it up adding the end of the greens, peas and grated beet.
We are interested in getting to a beach as quickly as possible! And the winner is Anini! It has a protective reef and feels the friendliest this time of year. My swimsuit hasn't made it's appearance here yet;) I add.
The beach is populated, our first settle doesn't work because the beach is not deep enough and the waves and creeping too close. We move to the next cove pretty near a young Starlet reading. As quiet as we are, she won't even know we are near;) Dan forgot his book in our haste to get here, and so dozes happily. I am stretched our, belly down, ear buds exhorting Dr. Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live! Suddenly, yes suddenly a wave cover both of us and my belongings are floating away. Scrambling to get up and collect my beach bag and shies and sand covered baseball cap, I rise to all fours. Time to go! My dripping phone is thankfully. Attached to my ears still! Whew!
As glad as I am that I have my iPhone, possession does not assure it will work again. Once home it goes into a bag of black beans hopefully to dry out. The sand in the plug makes it impassible to charge. All evening it has speech outbursts, Dan says it has Turrets Syndrome!
We shower and await Mike and Nancy's arrival. They join us for a Mark West Chardonnay and pupus just after six. It is so nice sitting outdoors as the evening settles around us and holds us in BLESSING. Nancy brings me earrings from their Peru trip.
We leave for Bar Acuda just before 7 and are lucky to get a quiet table in the back. A gecko scrambles across the tabletop! We order from the tapas menu:
Green Beans crisp
Roasted beets with chevre
Pizzetta
Scallop atop mashed potato
Gnochi With hazelnut and sage
We enjoy each other so much! I never want our time to end. But it does and they drop us off at our home here. Mike leaves to car to give us kisses and long hugs, Nancy and I always kiss one another. No telling when we'll meet again. We all lead such interesting lives;)
Dan and I settle down for a nightcap and it's time to slumber happily. My phone is still grumbling to itself as we fall asleep.
Sweet Dreams and Mahalo Kauai:)
Love, suzy

Friday

Such an amazing Day!
I call my Dad, despite daily blog posts i haven't heard his voice in days so we catch up.

Following breakfast, i announce, let's buy that bikini! We are there when the doors open at 10:00 to swoop it up. I dress quickly and we're off with the beers and gingered guava juice to Moloa a Beach. This is a lovely secluded beach and the waves are mighty:) listening to Eat to Live and Dan reading golf stories, we get our share of sun!
At one we drive to Kiluea for a wrap from the Fish Market; a tofu and an ahi: so crisp, succulent and juicy! We seek a washroom and inquire at the stone building complex. Carole appears to answer Dan's inquiry. "Carole!" She is a wonderful yoga teacher from Yoga Hanalei, and now has opened Metamorphose Yoga here! We use her private facility tiptoeing across her new bamboo floors:) i ask how may I support you? And buy an essential oil: Playful Spirit! She asks what's new and i share with ger my passion for reflexology! She in turn invites me to conduct a workshop next Winter. Sure!!
Then the talks begin with the cake lady:)
She has been to FV clubhouse to inspect the table where her three tier cake will sit;) it can't be moved. She wants to know where the caterers will serve and the photographer will take pictures and what the tablecloths will be like and on! Interrupted three times as our car dips in and out of rocky Kauaian crags along Kuhio highway.
I need a nap!
At 5 i arise and dress for pupus at The St Regis Hotel. I door man says then we will be joining 'the Shah' . . .
The sun is blazing! We order waters and a sauvignon blanc (it is a 2010 Bancroft from Marlborogh, New Zealand) for me and a Texas Mary for Dan. Then the spectacular ahi burger and mushroom spring rolls with butter lettuce:)
Divine:)
Listening to slack key guitar in the lounge we are reluctant to leave. They play the Keyhole Hula which I love!
Then home, to watch a Four Weddingsl and i finish my beet salad from last night.
Whew, that was a full day!
Grateful and Blessed, Suzy

Thursday

The nicest day yet here in Paradise. The Lion coffee is the perfect start to each new dawn:) yes and doves and roosters. Today a tired cock a doodle and hens cackling cracked me up!
We are spending the morning at the Waioli Mission Home in Hanalei where the Wilcox family served as missionaries nearly two hundred years ago. A fascinating tour!
Then on to Hanalei Bay for a sunburn and a little reading, Eat to Live!
Can't get the yellow swimsuit out of my mind, owing in part to the fact that i'm in such good shape. I am toi frugal to buy it though. I need to go back and try in on ( again) and we do;)
The Hanalei Dolphin gets our business they make a great bowl of greens and mung sprouts. I toy with adding Ahi, but choose the vegan guacamole as my dressing, in keeping it plant based and nutrient dense.
We swing by our timeshare and move onto Anini Beach fir the afternoon of shelling and dozing.
I make a green salad to go with the puzza Dan buys at Hanalei Pizza. The crust is a mix of flax, hemp and coconut fours and is it Good; half Margarita and half Veg Head! At eight we are eager to start our movie so we settle in front of the TV set.
Beasts of the Southern Wilds is a film about a six year old named Hush Puppy and her hopeless existence in the Bath Tub of Louisiana. She strength and resourcefulness win an Oscar for best actress. Sad and enlightening, i was ready to fall fast asleep and put the experuence out of mind.
I'd rather be a mango in paradise than a hush puppy in the bath tub. Cultivating compassion as I crawl into bed.
Good Night All

Wednesday

Meditation in the wee hours, the roil of ocean and dripping greet my ears. The tsunami did not visit.
Dan arises and i make huevos rancheros with the black beans we took turns pressing with a fork. A tortilla warm, frijole negro, a soft fried egg, thin shreds of red onion and kauai salsa! Into the blender go bananas, pineapple, papaya ice cubes and a handful of mild micro green s. todays smoothie is born;)
Dan has a plan for the slightly damp day!
A trip to Limahuli Gardens for a few hours of hiking among native species. I must buy a long sleeved Tshirt or shiver to death. . . It's 70 but feels chilly here.
We pause at Kepuhi Beach to have a Coors light ( with passo o guave juice and grated ginger for ne. The sand is moist and the ocean bold. It is a refreshing sit and i am inspired to do a little yoga here.

The Medittanean Gourmet is our lunch destination. Dan digs the Lamb Burger and i enjoy the quinoa tabouli salad! Two oclock we head for home.
I had hoped to have a hula lesson at 3:30 with Julie but did not register at the Desk, i just gave her my word. Oops!
So we settle out on the lawn chairs and enjoy the Northern most vista.
I have a rice salad to prepare to go with the fish we bought for dinner.
At sunset we grill and settle onto the lanai for our candlelight dinner. Mark West chardonnay is a good companion to the macadamia nut shortbread , which dan and I dip, Remembering Frascati Italy where we dipped cookies into sweet yellow wine one afternoon in May!
Redbox has a movie for us: Salmon Fishing in Yemen. We recommend it highly. And another day passes in Paradise;) mahalo
